Determining The Roots of an Equation

Once we know that a root lies within a particular interval, we need a process to help us to determine the value of the root or an approximation to the root. To do this we use ITERATIVE processes. An ITERATIVE process is a repeated calculation which allows us to get closer to the desired result with each iteration.

Study Tips

  1. Create a schedule and set goals

    • dedicate particular days of the week to watch videos and other days to work on exercises

    • make note of your working habits to create an effective schedule

    • set goals which encourage you to finish a topic within a timely manner

  2. Complete Practice Exercises and Assignments

    • completing practice sheets in their entirety helps to reinforce the topic and may even force you to seek external resources for help when unfamiliar topics arise

    • completing assignments in a timely manner and not letting them pile up helps alleviate unnecessary stress

  3. Create a study guide/cheat sheet, while watching videos, to refer to when doing practice exercises, assignments or studying.
